MBRWF members pose with a western bronze of President Reagan during a trip to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.
The segment of the Berlin Wall at the Reagan Library takes on special meaning to one of our members who escaped the Soviet invasion ofCzechlosovakia (now the Czech Republic) in 1968.
ROADTRIPS
Along with monthly meetings, MBRWF members enjoy many fun “field trips”. Among them include visits to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, The Richard Nixon Presidential Library, the Los Angeles Branch of the Federal Reserve.
VISIBILITY
We also register voters every year at the local Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair. This year we had life size cut-outs of John McCain and Sara Palin, and drew quite a crowd.
FUNDRAISERS!
Our fundraisers are fun, casual, and crowded! Our members know how to party. We have Wine Tasting events which usually have silent auction items, we have garage sales, fashion shows, and whatever our Ways and Means committee members can imagine! Part of the raised funds contribute to our general fund, but most is distributed in the form of scholarships and other benefits to our returning veterans.
PARTIES
We also have social gatherings that are designed to have time to get to know one another. Our annual Christmas Party includes our new Officer Installation ceremony. Another popular event is our summer Barbeque, usually at the home of a member that has a beautiful backyard! We have taken the Los Angeles Metro downtown for a walking tour of the old Los Angeles Theatre District, attended Museums and strolled along Rodeo Drive.
"We can't shut our eyes to the fact that, as the Soviet military power increased, so did their willingness to embark on military adventures. The scars are plainly evident in a number of third world countries."
~Ronald Reagan
Dec. 28, 1982
A recent road trip was to the LAX Flight Path Museum. Here we are about to oard a beauyifully restored DC 4, which was none of the first commercial planes. It holds 29 passengers!
In May 2009, a number of MBRWF members attended a book signing/ cocktail party/speech in conjunction with the Woodland Hills, and Malibu-Bel-Air clubs with featured guest, Dick Morris and his wife, Eileen Mc Gann. The price of the event included their best seller "Fleeced". Dick's speech, though brutally honest about what Barak Obama wants to do, ended on a positive note, suggesting the the President is actually his own worst enemy, and many of his programs will have the unintended consequences of bringi ng conservatives back into office! Most of Dick's predictions have come true over the years. Let's hope he is right! Shown above with Dick are our very own Rosalie Olson and Lana VanAggelan.
Dick Morris and
co-author/wife Eileen McGann autograph books prior to Dick's speech.
What a great time we had at our "Back To The Future" party on at Sangria Restaurant in Hermosa Beach. This was a fundraiser for local Republican candidates. On hand to discuss their ideas were (pictured with MBRWF president Martha Logan) l-r, John Stammerich, candidate for the 28th California Senate District, Nathan Mintz, candidate for the 53rd california Assembly District, and Pete Kesterson, candidate for United States Congress, 38th District.
Conservative comedian Eric Golub entertained the crowd, there was a life size cut out of Ronald Reagan in front of a beautiful American flag for photo opportunities, and wonderful items from the Reagan Library for a very patriotic raffle! Please click on the photos below for more fun!
